When is the right time to have your child fitted with braces?

When is the right time to have your child fitted with braces?

The transformation from the milk teeth to permanent one is an important phase in a child’s life. One by one the milk teeth will start to fall and followed by the permanent ones. Once when the permanent teeth are in place, that is when the parents and the child notice some changes or problems either in the alignment of the tooth or basically in the formation of the lower jaw. Some children also have the habit of tooth grinding or mouth breathing which hampers the normal formation of the tooth.

It is important to note the factor of hereditary. Often when parents had tooth misalignment in their young age, the child also suffers due to it. There are some parents, who are aware and consciously take their child for the periodic dental check-up, and diagnose the challenges right away. They will also be proactive to take the necessary steps at the right time.

It is noted that one in three children suffers out of crowded, misplaced or protruding teeth. As parents, it becomes their important duty to identify the problem and suggest for an early precaution, which would be beneficial in the long run. Parents always suggest good hygiene and cleanliness, at the young age, despite all the awareness and the precautions, there will be some problem identified. Fixing the problem at appropriate times would help curb the bigger problems of the future.

Why is it important to fix the braces when the child reaches its age 8 or 9?

As the child would have got its new set of teeth, and the bones have just formed, this would be the appropriate time to ensure that their problems in the tooth can be corrected.

The maturity of the child is very important. The child needs to cooperate to a procedure. As the braces will be there in the child’s mouth for a considerable period of time.

It should also be taken into account that Crowding and Spacing of teeth forms a very important aspect. When the teeth are crowded, it becomes very difficult to fix the braces.

Most of the children will have the habit of thumb sucking and teeth biting. When the braces are on, this habit will cause them adverse effects on them.

It is mainly the parent’s duty to make the children understand the importance and motivate them. As braces are not only to enhance the look of the face, but also helps the proper alignment and enhances the functionality of the mouth. The awareness has gained among the people, it is to be noted that many people want to fix the problem in the earlier stage. This awareness is a notable one. Meet your dentist today and get an appointment soon, to ensure a better future.

Injury to the front tooth in childhood is very common. Kids with slightly protruded teeth or poorly aligned teeth are often victims of such injuries. Sometimes the teeth fracture. Many times, the tooth that receives the blow does not crack or fracture but just turns brown over the next few years. They are seldom noticed till teenage, until they become a cosmetic problem. The patient or the parent comes to the dentist with just one request – please turn the tooth white. While masking the colour is an easy treatment, we should not treat such browned teeth lightly since such teeth are prone to cyst formation. When any front tooth receives a sudden blow, the blood supply to the tooth through the tip of the tooth is sometimes crushed resulting in pulp necrosis (death) which leads to the browning of the tooth.
