Dental Veneers

Do you have chipped or crooked teeth? Are you unhappy with uneven gaps between your front teeth? Would you like to mask your badly stained teeth? Looking for a quick solution to improve your smile!! Dental veneers are the perfect choice to straighten your curve.

Dental veneers are called as porcelain veneers or laminates. These are thin, custom made tooth colored shell like coverings bonded on individual teeth to alter shape, size, color and alignment of imperfect teeth.

What is the choice of material for veneers?

Dental veneers can be made of tooth colored composite or porcelain. Porcelain veneers are custom made cap like structures fabricated in the laboratory that are indirectly bonded to the tooth structure. Unlike porcelain veneers, composite veneers are directly bonded to the tooth surface by carefully sculpting composite on the tooth. Considering patient’s expectations from the treatment and the dental issue, dentist will decide on what type of dental veneer will achieve the patient’s cosmetic goals.

When are porcelain veneers indicated?

  • Badly stained teeth that aren’t whitened by bleaching
  • Chipped or worn teeth
  • Straighten irregularly positioned teeth

Why porcelain veneers?

  • They are strong and durable
  • They don’t stain easily
  • They do not wear off unlike natural tooth enamel
  • Quick and simple as less tooth structure has to be removed

Before initiating the treatment for dental veneers, dentist will treat any other dental issues such as tooth decay, tooth grinding habits, gum diseases etc. During the process, dentist will trim the tooth a little to create space for veneers. Impressions are taken and sent to the laboratory for their construction. Once fabricated, veneers are checked for their fit and color after which the teeth are cleaned, polished, etched and bonded with cement.
